Hello and welcome to "Inspirations", a featurette about how the games have inspired the locations and action of the webisodes.
This area is in the "Caves" level of Tomb Raider and the "Mountain Caves" level of Tomb Raider Anniversary. This area inspired a hall in the "Peru" webisode, where Lara activates a switch at the end of the corridor and sets off a whole ton of traps that try to kill her.
This is the "Lost Valley" from both Tomb Raider and Tomb Raider Anniversary which was what I puctred during writing the scenes in the valley in "The Finale", and also during parts of "Peru", along with the TR/TRA level "City of Vilcabamba".
This area inspired a moment in the "China" webisode when Lara falls into a pit, and into a vast room where two statues are waiting underwater for her. This screenshot is from the Egypt section of Tomb Raider Anniversary, and the area is also flooded, until you use a switch to drain away the water, which inspired how the water drops in "China".
This area, also from the Egypt section of Tomb Raider Anniversary, obviously inspired the moment in "Egypt", when Lara is attacked by a sand monster, who appears from the obelisk.
The outside of the temple in the "Thailand" short is based on early screenshots of the Thailand section in Tomb Raider Underworld.
However, the inside of the temple in "Thailand" was more inspired by the Bolivia level in Tomb Raider Legend.
The Croft Manor seen in the "England" and "The Finale" webisodes is inspired by the manor seen in the latest games, Tomb Raider Legend and Tomb Raider Anniversary (and to a lesser extent, Tomb Raider Underworld), which in turn is based on the Manor in the movies, Lara Croft Tomb Raider and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life.
Lara visits Nishimura's place in the "Tokyo" webisode, which is a location in the "Japan" level of Tomb Raider Legend.
The "England" webisode set in the rundown church is based on the "England" level from Tomb Raider Legend, where Lara raids an abandoned museum.
The exterior of the laboratory in the "Germany" webisode is based on this concept art and the exterior of the lab as seen in the "Kazakhstan" level of Tomb Raider Legend.
And the inside of the lab in "Germany" is based on the frosty atmosphere of "Kazakhstan" and even uses similar traps, like the poison gas.
"Germany" also includes lasers, which were inspired by the "Japan" level of Tomb Raider Legend, although the skimpy outfit was left out.
And that's it... I hope you can now see that this series was heavily based on the games, but we like putting spins on situations, and make us stand alone.
