Episode One “Two Weeks Later” SPOILER ALERT: I don’t want to put my entire review in a spoiler tag so If you haven’t read the first episode don’t read this review. I have to admit that I was a dissapointed when I read the title. I don’t really like it when shows jump forward in time and it their was a lot of interesting things going on at the very end of last seaosn. I quickly came to terms with it though. I really didn’t expect things to start off with Justin. I totally thought you’d kick off the season with Karl’s storyline since he kinda seemd to become the “main” character towards the end of last season. I’m not upset though because the teaser ends in a way I was totally not expecting. I kind of though after the way the teaser ended that you’d go back in time and show us how this came to be but you pick up exactly where the teaser ended. Bold move. Curtis’ speech was pretty awesome and reminded me why I liked him so much in the first season. Poor Mark. After all the work he did to get the family to the shelter he doesn’t seem to be doing much of anything right now. Just an errand boy it seems. Just when it looks like things can’t get anyworse for Justin things finally get better. Love seeng him finally catch a break. Though it is a bit conveineant that him and Karl just happened to end up so close to each other. All in all a god start to the new season. I sort of forgot how much I enjoyed these characters. Random Thoughts: Vince is still as menacing as ever.

Yeah, I thought about that when I made the decision. Nothing very interesting happened in those two weeks that we don't see in this episode.
Justin was safe and sound in the Compound, and the rest of the family was safe and sound in the Camp. Karl's two weeks were really the only thing I thought needed more than a few sentences to explain and I presented that.
I'll probly go into more detail with certain characters time during the "two week gap" in the "Bits and Pieces" thread but I don't think any of that is really "needed".
I also consider Karl to be the main character and I always have. That's probly the main reason I held off on reintroducing him as long as I did. I had originally planned to not have him in the first episode at all but that plan changed pretty quickly.
During the last few episodes of season one there were hundreds of Zombies on our main characters coat tails. Some of those Zombies made it across that bridge and are now knocking on Camp O'Brien's "doors".
Curtis' speech is actually the first thing I wrote in season two. It was one of those rare moments when I just kind of started writing and the words came out.
Yeah, Mark's really struggling to find his place in this new world and as far as this season goes he's one of those characters that will end up in situations I never planned him to be in.
Agreed. Justin and Karl's reunion is extremely unlikely in a real world scenario but it was also one of my favorite scenes to write.
All in all, writing season two was extremely weird for me because moments like the Karl/Justin reunion are things I've always known would happen but so many other things changed along the way that these "tent pole" moments are nothing like I thought they'd be.
Thank you for your comments. I truly look forward to your thoughts on future episodes.

I really dig the scenes with Karl and Justin working together to escape the Town of Caydem. I loved how Karl vomits, passes out, then wakes up and goes straight for another bottle. Also him filling Justin’s backpack with booze was pretty funny.
My only realy complaint about this episode was the “lighting the liquor store on fire” moment. Even as drunk as Karl was that’s just a bad idea and Justin should never have let him go through with it. It did make for an exciting scene though.
Some of my favorite moments last season were the National Guardsmen in Retirement Home with Amy so it’s great to see them get some action again this season.
Duncan is such an asshole that I just can’t stand him. I hope he dies horribly and very soon. I can’t tell if he’s deliberatlely putting people in harm’s way just to piss off McCawley or he’s just stupid.
Some pretty stand out deaths this week as well. Both Dale and Sullivan were relativley minor characters but they’re deaths were very memorable. Sullivan especially with his big hero’s exit was nice.
Jackass is another character I really don’t like but he at least brings a certain level of funny to things.
And then there’s that ending. Not only do we now have Marines involved in things but it seems they’ve brought infected people with them. I totally would have been satisfied with that as the cliffhanger but you had to go one step further and put Helen in jeapordy. It would make for an interesting death but I kid of don’t think it’s gonna happen.
I’m a bit worried looking at the title for Episode Three. Not just for the characters but for the future of the show. I really don’t know how they could defend against the virus if it’s gone airborne and that could get kind of boring.

Even as drunk as Karl was that’s just a bad idea and Justin should never have let him go through with it. It did make for an exciting scene though. Yeah, it's a bit risky and extremely foolish but like you said, Karl was pretty drunk. On Justin's behalf he did try to talk Karl out of it but Karl started the fire before Justin could really do anything about it. Some of my favorite moments last season were the National Guardsmen in Retirement Home with Amy so it’s great to see them get some action again this season. Me too. Stay tuned! I'd say it's both. With Vince taking on a "lighter" demeanor this season Duncan has sort of stepped up as my "Main Villain" for the year. He's actually a lot of fun to write. I love me some Jackass. I put him in the end of Season One just to give Seth a fight to break up and I kinda knew right then that we'd be seeing more of him. He actually appears way more than I'd anticipated. We can talk more once you've read it. I don't want to spoil anything.

Minisode: AmyDamn you, Dex. Amy was my favourite character in Season One and this is what she's been reduced to! You are a very cruel man. I don't really have anything else to say other than this was an emotional little piece and I'm really sad that Amy ended up a zombie rather than going out like how she wanted.

Where's the fun in giving your characters what they want? If it makes you feel any better she was my favorite character too.

I gotta write this down before my ADD kicks in hardcore. (I don't really have ADD, I just tend to care about doing everything I want to do all at the same time) But I REALLY enjoyed your teaser to episode one of this season.
Most of the time, I am use to having make the teaser not only hook, but that's where all the fun is, otherwise no one gives it the time of day. And I know your teaser should hook, but it shouldn't be better than the whole of the rest of the episode, as I am also entirely use too.
But I enjoyed the little scene of Karson and Justin hunting together. Their conversation was light hearted, even if the subject matter started to get heavy. It was just two people having a chat, and then-- GIANT SWARM OF ZOMBIES ON THE MOVE. I thought that was brilliant. I plan to pull inspiration from what you did there, thank you. ONWARD TO REVIEW!
