Sorry, dude. Amy was dead before I even knew what her name was. Her death was one of the first things I came up with after creating Karl's character. Granted her death was sudden and "unexpected" but I assure you there's a reason for it. Her death will have a huge affect on multiple characters and to be honest, if she lived I really don't think I'd have anything interesting for her to do next season anyway. Well, I'm not gonna say who bites the dust, but there's definately death in the final episode and what's left of the "Walker Convoy" certainly has a very interesting final stretch. Glad you dig them. The Armed Forces will play a very crucial role in Season two. My only concern is that the cast list is getting a bit out of control. Season two's getting to the point where it might take up two pages. Either that or I get rid of it altogether. Yeah, Justin's story, right now, is kind of at a transitional point. These last two episodes are just sort of setting up where he's going for season two. I kind of always wanted Justin to end the season in a safe place and while it's not nearly as exciting as what he's been through so far it just feels right to me. For the most part this little bit is setting things up so that eventually Justin will have to choose to either stay at the Compound where he's safe or risk it all to find his family. So far he hasn't ever really sat down and thought things through so he's never really had the chance to weigh the pros and cons. I kinda wanna take his character in that direction for awhile. I honestly expected people to think this from the very beginning. Justin's warning about the safety of the Shelters in the Pilot episode was always meant to be taken seriously. Where would season two go if this Fallout shelter was paradise? Then again, "The Land Before Time" is almost exactly that premise and they still managed to churn out like twenty sequels. Better late than never. For awhile I thought maybe you just stopped reading when I killed off Amy. I appreciate the interest.

Damn. I could have sworn I posted this weeks ago but I guess not. Season Finale Review.
Another really instense episode. It almost rivalled some of the gas station stuff. From the sod field to the "attack on the camp" and even Tanya finally meeting up with Vince again was pretty intense.
I love the opening bit with Curtis putting Horace in his place. Horace is officially my least favorite character in the series.
As Dale's telling his story about how he lost his car and his brother died. I was really into it at first and really wanted to know how it ended until I realized that he was lying because his buddy was killed by Vince quite a while ago. How much of the story was true? Is that really how they lost their car?
Finally a death I'm glad to see happen. Horace was annoying from the first time we saw him and I just couldn't wait to seem him go down. I feel bad for his wife though.
I'm really really starting to like Seth. I didn't expect him to be around this long (didn't even care if he wasn't) but his new leadership role looks like it's got potential.
The one thing I really didn't get is why did Karl and Vince go through such a dramaticaly different Quarantine process than Tanya?
Robert's guilt for having "caused the traffic jam" is something I never really thought about until it was brought up. It's a nice touch and a good way to give his character a little more depth.
Shelly and Helen realizing Justin didn't make it was a pretty sad scene. Probably the saddest so far even though we the audience know Justin is just fine it's obvious and understandable that his family is fearing the worst. My only question is, Did Justin leave the compund at the end of the episode or decide to stay? It wasn't very clear.
It wasn't exactly the ending I was expecting either. Karl leaving the camp feels like another one of those bad choices that's going to lead to a lot of problems.
So how long do we have to wait for season two?

I'm really not sure but what I think happened is they went in the store and the car just wasn't there when they came out. This is another one of those stories I wanna tell in a stand alone episode. Not sure if I'm gonna get there though. I've already started digging into season two and it's flowing pretty well so I'm just gonna keep at it for awhile. I'll come back to that stuff if I get stuck somewhere.
Yeah, he bugged me too. I can't even remember exactly why I created him in the first place. I think it was just for the scene where Mark climbs up onto the RV to get a better look at the traffic. I started writing and just instantly hated the character so I decided to use it. When I watch Romero movies there's usually only one or two characters I really like and the rest just bug the shit out of me. I was trying to embody all those whining/complaining characters with Horace. In the end he served a decent purpose as the catalyst for most of the Walker's troubles. First Sergeant Duncan is kind of the same deal only he'll probably be around for a bit longer and might even redeem himself at some point.
The chick in the Female Quarantine Barracks just takes the job a bit more serious, maybe too seriously, and the guy's done it too many times and has gotten lazy.
Yeah, that's one of those pieces that sort of came to me out of the blue and made me smack myself in the head for not thinking of it sooner. But it's drastically changed what I had in store for him in season two.
Yeah, I'm not sure why I left it so vague but he stays. Something happens in the first episode of season two though that convinces him to try and get to Camp O'Brien.
Yeah, it won't be quite as bad as what happened when he went back for Ben in season one but it does trigger pretty much everything that happens to him for the next season. Which, in turn, drasticaly changed things for his whole family.
I'm not sure. I wanna take my time this year and make sure I've got the majority of the season written before anything airs. Right now I'm working hard on getting the season one vDVD put together and in the process I've been re-writing some episodes. I'm thinking that should be done by Christmas and then I can really start digging into season two.

It will be, but Dex puts a lot of time and effort in to produce quality work. I'd rather he take his time to get decent material out there, than rush him and get a half-hearted project released. That's the kind of place TEN is.

I'm glad you replied to that Tom, I would of been a lot less amicable.
But as Tom said, we want quality over quantity. If it takes Dex a year, then it takes a year. If it's two years then so be it. We are not gonna to rush or force our writers to write - they have as much room as they need.

It's coming back. Not gonna take a year, but it might be a month or two yet before I start breaking out the new graphics and announce an actual air date.
This new season has been extremely difficult to write. I think I kinda of shot myself in the foot adding so many characters towards the end of the season. The cast list was pretty huge when it started but the story just demanded that I add more. It's been tough trying balance all these new people in the camp with the original core cast.
That said, I've got a good bulk of the season done so far and I think I've been pulling off the balancing act pretty well.
The patience is greatly appreciated.
